Music/Worship– Joanna Gipson, Chair
Salem was founded by descendants of J. S. Bach and music has always had a central place, especially in our worship on Sunday mornings. The liturgical setting of the service and the hymns are selected with the Church Season and appointed scriptures in mind.
Salem is familiar with 9 different settings or worship services. During Advent and Lent we especially enjoy Holden Evening Prayer service on Wednesday evenings.
We have been told that we have a beautiful singing congregation Can you think of any better way to express our love for our Lord than through music?
Staff
We are blessed with the talents of Krystal Hennessey, Organist and Director of Music, and Elizabeth Albright, Choir Director, who shepherd us in all things musical. Krystal plays for us each Sunday and works with small groups, solos and younger musicians. Elizabeth shares her beautiful voice and works with the choir each Wednesday evening to enhance our worship.
Choir
We are looking forward to the time when we will sing together again safely. Pre-COVID the Choir met every Wednesday at 7 pm. During the Advent and Lenten seasons, choir meets at 7:30 pm following the Wednesday evening service.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild lovingly attends to our worship space. A very faithful group sees to the set-up for worship and communion on Sundays, special Wednesdays, and holiday services.
